| A.D. 1200 – 1312. The Approach to the Commandery. The main approach to the Commandery was the Riding Road from the Marsh for the Knights alone, whilst on the left an embankment was constructed which enabled foot passengers to approach the stone ford over the river. It sprang from the Priors Close and stretched to the steps of the ford. F.J. Montgomery |
